South Worcester Lifesaving Club members recognised at national SLSGB Heroes of the Surf Awards 2019

Updated: Apr 5, 2019

Over the weekend of the 16th and 17th of March, members of South Worcester Lifesaving & Lifesaving Club attended the national SLSGB Conference. The weekend conference which was held in Torquay, covered various updates which SLSGB are implementing over the next 12 months and also highlighted key updates which are important to our Trainer Assessors.

Alongside the national conference was the SLSGB Heroes of the Surf Awards, in which individuals are nominated for acts of bravery in which they go above and beyond the expectation of any Lifesaver. South Worcester are proud to say that we had three of our members recognised by the Surf Lifesaving committee and as a result all three obtained awards. Alice and Ellen Forson received a Lifesaving Commendation for using their First Responder Skills when faced with a major Road Traffic Collision. They assessed the casualty and managed the scene, having personally witnessed the collision. Having witnessed the collision between a lorry and a car they could easily have expected to have been faced with horrific injuries if not worse, yet without hesitation they went to the aid of the injured lady, and then subsequently waited for the Emergency Services to arrive. Abbi Jones received a Services to Lifesaving Award for all her hard work in relation to all things lifesaving. Abbi is a very committed and valued member of South Worcester Lifesaving Club and has been involved in Lifesaving for over 20 years. Abbi is also one of the unit managers for the South Worcester Flood Rescue unit and dedicates many hours to the running of the unit.

South Worcester Lifesaving & Lifeguard Club would like to congratulate all who received their awards, for all of their hard work and time they dedicate to South Worcester Lifesaving Club.
